It's never too late — orthodontic options for adult patients
Adult orthodontics is one of the fastest-growing segments of dental care in the Philippines. More adults than ever are choosing braces or Invisalign to achieve the smile they always wanted — and there is no age limit for orthodontic treatment.
Many adults did not have access to orthodontic treatment as children. Others had braces but did not wear their retainers, causing teeth to shift back. Some adults notice increasing crowding as they age. Whatever the reason, adult orthodontics is highly effective and increasingly popular in Metro Manila.
Ceramic braces are the most popular choice for adult professionals — tooth-colored brackets are far less noticeable than metal. Invisalign is ideal for adults who need complete discretion — aligners are virtually invisible and removable. Lingual braces (placed on the inside of teeth) are completely hidden but more expensive. Metal braces remain the most affordable option and are equally effective.
Adult treatment typically takes slightly longer than adolescent treatment because adult bones are denser and teeth move more slowly. Expect 18–36 months for most cases. Adults may also need to address existing dental issues (cavities, gum disease) before starting orthodontic treatment. The results are permanent with proper retainer use.
